Welcome to our Letter of the Week series — where each week we spotlight one special letter and give you everything you need to teach it with confidence.
This week, the spotlight shines on the letter Cc!
Whether you’re a parent, preschool teacher, homeschool family, or providing learning support, this weekly post includes:
A FREE 5-Day Colorful Lesson Plan (with pictures of the materials used)
A FREE instructional video
FREE printable consumables
The complete Moxie Letter Craft /c/ Kit available in the boutique

Let’s explore our star of the week!
What Does the Letter C Look Like?
The letter C is a half circle.
It curves . It stays open. It does not close like an O.
In the instructional video, I model it exactly this way:
“C is a half circle.”
Uppercase C is a big half circle . Lowercase c is a small half circle.
Children can practice by:
Air tracing
Making the curve with their arm
Forming it with playdough
Tracing with their finger
When children understand the shape conceptually, they remember it longer.
What Sound Does C Make?
For this lesson, we focus on the hard /c/ sound.

It sounds like:
/c/ as in cat, /c/ as in car, /c/ as in cup
It’s a quick sound from the back of the mouth.
In the FREE instructional video, I teach children how to:
Produce the /c/ sound clearly
Practice with repetition
Use a Sound Chant
Connect the sound to real objects
We chant together:
C says — /c/ /c/ /c/ !
Clear modeling builds confident readers.
