Finding Our Identity in the Kingdom of God
In the everyday moments of childhood—when questions are asked, feelings are big, and identity is forming—there is a deeper invitation from God:
“Who does Jesus say I am?”
This week, we explore that question through one of the most powerful teachings of Jesus and through a beautiful reminder from Moxie.
🎥 Watch here: Moxie Learns Who Jesus Says She Is | A Child of God, Light of the World 🌟
📖 Scripture Focus: Matthew 5:13–14 (NIV)
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”
🌱 What Does It Mean to Be Salt?
Salt preserves.
Salt brings flavor.
Salt changes what it touches.
When Jesus calls us “the salt of the earth,” He is saying:
You carry something valuable inside of you
You are meant to influence the world around you
Your presence matters
For children, this is a powerful truth:
They are not “too little” to make a difference.
They are not waiting to become something later.
They already are.
Being salt means:
Showing kindness when it’s hard
Speaking truth gently
Standing firm in what is right
It’s not about being perfect—it’s about staying connected to who God created them to be.
💡 What Does It Mean to Be Light?
Light reveals.
Light guides.
Light cannot be hidden.
Jesus says, “You are the light of the world.”
Not you will be some day.
Not if you do everything right.
You are.
Light shines not for attention—but for direction.
This is where identity shifts for children:
Instead of asking,👉 “Do people like me?”
They begin to ask,👉 “Am I shining what God placed in me?”
Light looks like:
Helping a friend
Telling the truth
Including others
Choosing love when it’s not easy
And most importantly…
Light points back to God.
👑 Identity in the Kingdom of God
In the Kingdom of God, identity is not earned—it is given.
Children are not defined by:
Likes or attention
Behavior charts
Comparison to others
They are defined by truth:
✨ Child of God
✨ Salt of the earth
✨ Light of the world
When children understand this, something changes.
They stop performing for approval……and begin living from purpose.

❤️ Heart Skills – The Foundation
This is where Heart Skills come in.
Before academics…
Before performance…
Before outward success…
We build the heart.
Because when a child knows:
Who they are in God
Why they matter
Who they are reflecting
They can:
✔ Obey from love, not fear
✔ Do good works without needing recognition
✔ Stand firm even when others don’t
This is the difference between:
Seeking approval from people vs.
Living to honor the Father
As Scripture reminds us, our lives are meant to be visible not for ourselves—but so that others see God through us.
🌟 Bringing It Back to Moxie
In this week’s video, Moxie is learning something many children (and adults) wrestle with:
“Who am I… really?”
And through gentle guidance, she discovers:
She doesn’t have to chase identity.
She doesn’t have to earn it.
Jesus already spoke it.
🙏 Reflection for Families & Educators
Ask your child:
What does it mean to be salt?
How can you shine your light today?
Who does Jesus say you are?
Then remind them:
💛 You don’t have to try to be seen
💛 You don’t have to prove your worth
💛 You already carry His light
🌿 Closing Encouragement
When Curiosity meets Scripture, identity is formed.
And when identity is rooted in Jesus…
Children grow into people who:
Love boldly
Shine naturally
Obey faithfully
Not for attention…but for the glory of the Father.
