When I first imagined The Moxie & Me Show, I knew one thing for certain: it was never meant to be just a learning show.
It was created to be a safe, welcoming space for young children—especially those who learn differently—to see themselves, their feelings, and their experiences reflected back to them. Moxie wasn’t designed to be a teacher who simply gives answers. She was designed to be a friend who learns alongside the child watching.
That heart is why The Moxie & Me Show, under The Learning Boutique, has always leaned heavily into social-emotional learning.

Why Social-Emotional Learning Comes First
Before a child can sit still for a lesson…
Before they can identify letters…
Before they can blend sounds or recognize words…
They need connection.
Children need to feel safe, understood, and seen. They need help navigating big feelings, learning how to interact with others, and discovering that it’s okay to make mistakes.
In my years as a preschool "teacher", childcare owner, and paraprofessional, I saw this again and again: When social-emotional needs aren’t met, academic learning becomes harder—not easier.
Social-Emotional Learning Based on Jesus’ Teachings
The social-emotional lessons in The Moxie & Me Show are intentionally rooted in the teachings of Jesus, specifically through His parables—simple stories that teach big truths in ways children can understand.
These lessons are guided by three core commandments that shape everything Moxie models:
Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul
Love others as you love yourself
Love others the way Jesus loved us
Through everyday moments, gentle storytelling, and play-based interactions, children are introduced to what it looks like to live out these commandments in age-appropriate ways.
That’s why The Moxie & Me Show focuses on:
Making friends (real and imaginary)
Expressing feelings in healthy ways
Asking for help and offering help
Turn-taking and cooperation
Kindness, forgiveness, patience, and empathy
Confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving
Moxie models what it looks like to be unsure, to try anyway, and to grow—just as Jesus taught with compassion, grace, and relationship.
Where Rooted in Reading Fits In
As Rooted in Reading began to take shape within The Learning Boutique, something important became clear:
Early literacy deserves a focused and intentional instructional approach.
Phonics instruction, sound drills, letter formation, and early reading skills require:
Repetition
Clear structure
Intentional pacing
A consistent instructional flow
Trying to fully teach phonics inside a story-based, relationship-driven format would have watered down both the instruction and the heart of the show.
One Brand, One Channel, One Mission
The Moxie & Me Show and Rooted in Reading are not separate programs. They are both part of one unified brand: The Learning Boutique.
Moxie doesn’t disappear when literacy instruction begins. Moxie is also present in the Rooted in Reading instructional videos, helping children feel comfortable, connected, and supported as they learn how to read.
Rather than creating separate platforms or identities, the learning is delivered in two clear but connected ways:
The Moxie & Me Show Focuses on social-emotional learning inspired by Jesus’ parables and commandments, building emotional readiness, faith, and connection.
Rooted in Reading Delivers explicit early literacy instruction—phonics sounds, drills, letter recognition, and reading readiness—within the same trusted environment, helping children grow in skill and confidence.
Both live together under The Learning Boutique, on the same YouTube channel and shared spaces, with a shared mission and familiar presence.
A Faith-Filled Foundation
At the core of The Learning Boutique, The Moxie & Me Show, and Rooted in Reading is the belief that learning is a gift from God.
We are created to grow, to communicate, and to connect. When children feel loved, capable, and supported, they are better prepared to receive the gift of reading—one that opens the door not only to books, but to God’s Word.
By intentionally delivering social-emotional learning and reading instruction in distinct but connected ways, each is able to serve its purpose while remaining rooted in the same Christ-centered mission.
Moving Forward With Purpose
This approach allows families to:
Enjoy the show without pressure to “perform”
Build emotional and spiritual readiness through faith-based storytelling
Engage with Rooted in Reading intentionally for early literacy development
Pair hands-on materials with meaningful instruction
Experience everything within one trusted brand and space
Moxie still wonders.
Moxie still asks questions.
Moxie still learns out loud.
And now, children are invited to grow in faith, heart, and skill—all within The Learning Boutique, rooted in Jesus’ love.
Thanks for learning with us friends and remember sharing is caring!
